US inflation surges 9.1% in June

Inflation in the US rose more than forecast in June, adding pressure on the Federal Reserve to keep prices in check. Consumer prices surged 9.1 per cent last month from a year earlier. This is the most since November 1981. On a monthly basis, inflation increased by 1.3 per cent, also exceeding forecasts.
