Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said universities will have a critical role in strengthening Singapore’s social compact. He warned that in many societies, disparities are widening and communities are feeling excluded from progress. Mr Heng was speaking at Nanyang Technological University’s 30th anniversary dinner. He said as a young university, NTU has made remarkable strides and now hosts several research centres of excellence.
