Typhoon Muifa lashes eastern China, forcing over 1.5 million people from their homes

More than 1.5 million people in China have been taken to temporary shelters, after Typhoon Muifa brought strong winds, heavy rain and massive waves to the country’s east coast. The cyclone — described by state media as the strongest to hit Shanghai since 1949 — prompted dozens of flight cancellations and brought all port activities to a halt. But there was little actual damage reported.
