Sydney floods: Thousands forced to evacuate as rivers swell

Swollen rivers have spilled muddy waters across large parts of Sydney, forcing thousands to flee their homes. Australia’s flood crisis is getting worse, as torrential rains batter the east coast. Some parts of New South Wales have seen about a year’s worth of rain in just three days. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is due to tour the affected regions tomorrow (July 6) along with New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet. Downpours are expected to begin easing in Sydney, but authorities have forecast gale-force winds, which could tear down trees and power lines.
