Strengthening the Singapore dollar will not fully offset rising global prices. Parliament has been told that in fact, it might have an adverse impact on growth and the labour market. Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan was responding to Workers’ Party MP Jamus Lim’s suggestion that the government strengthen the Singapore dollar to combat inflation.
