Sri Lanka’s president presents interim budget, says IMF talks making “solid progress”

Sri Lanka’s talks with the IMF on a bailout package have made “solid progress”. This is according to President Ranil Wickremesinghe after he presented an interim budget to Parliament on Aug 30. He added that the government would aim to control inflation and introduce laws to bolster central bank independence. Sujeewa Mudalige, Chief Executive Officer of PwC Sri Lanka, shared his thoughts on the budget.
