International speculation on the whereabouts of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been laid to rest. Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has confirmed that Mr Rajapaksa has been allowed entry into Singapore on a private visit. MFA said Mr Rajapaksa has not asked for asylum and neither has he been granted any asylum. It added that Singapore generally does not grant requests for asylum.
