The political crisis in Sri Lanka has deepened even as Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is now acting president after Gotabaya Rajapaksa authorised him with presidential powers after fleeing the country. Mr Wickremesinghe declared a state of emergency only to rescind it within hours. People have taken to the streets to show their disdain for Mr Rajapaksa and the ruling party for dragging the country into bankruptcy.
