South Korea warns of “overwhelming” response if North uses its nuclear weapons

South Korea has warned of an overwhelming response from Seoul and its allies if Pyongyang should use its nuclear weapons. Concerns have grown about the North’s nuclear weapons programme after it declared itself a nuclear weapons state. In a show of force, the US navy’s nuclear-powered supercarrier — the USS Ronald Reagan — is scheduled to arrive at the southeastern port city of Busan later this week for joint military drills with South Korea.
