Singapore is studying a new, faster test for hepatitis C. Trials are in place for a finger-prick blood sample and saliva test, which can produce results in 20 minutes. Reliability studies are ongoing at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The authorities are hoping to push greater awareness for a disease that can cause serious liver damage. Some of these initiatives will target those at higher risk, such as drug offenders who may share contaminated needles. Singapore aims to eradicate hepatitis C by 2030.
