Russia burning off large amounts of natural gas as Europe’s energy costs skyrocket: BBC

Meanwhile, Russia is reportedly burning off large amounts of natural gas, even as shortages send prices soaring across Europe. That’s according to an analysis shared with BBC News. Experts said the burnt gas would have previously been exported to Germany. Since June, researchers have noted a significant increase in heat emanating from the facility. They said the plant is burning an estimated $10 million worth of gas every day. Others have suggested that more than four million cubic metres of gas are being burned by the flare every day.
