The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore has identified ransomware and phishing
as two key malicious cyber activities in 2021. One hundred and thirty-seven ransomware cases were reported, an increase of 54 per cent from 2020. The cases affected mostly SMEs from sectors such as IT and manufacturing. There were about 55,000 unique Singapore-hosted phishing URLs last year. This is a 17 per cent increase from 2020. Social networking firms made up more than half of the spoofed targets.
