Panel formed to tackle neighbourhood noise, to submit recommendations by end-2022

As complaints pile up over noise disturbances in neighbourhoods, such as drilling noises from renovation work and the sounds of furniture being dragged, the government has convened a panel to tackle the problem. The new community advisory panel will define norms on reasonable noise levels, as well as propose a guide to manage disturbances and mediate disputes. In 2021, the HDB received on average about 3,200 noise complaints every month — up from 2,000 cases per month in 2020.
