NParks to have more enforcement powers to help tackle illegal wildlife trade

Officers from the National Parks Board could soon have more bite to tackle the illegal wildlife trade. Proposed amendments to the Endangered Species Act would beef up NParks’ ability to investigate cases and help prosecute offenders. Under the changes, auxiliary police officers can assist NParks officers in inspections, searches and seizures. NParks officers would also be able to produce documents that can be admissible as evidence.
