The Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE) has said that it has not found any other instances of cheating by trainee lawyers taking the Bar exams, apart from the 11 cases that were recently uncovered. SILE, which conducts the exams, has now put in place additional safeguards by introducing remote proctoring for exams that are conducted online. Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam reiterated these details in Parliament on Monday (May 9) in answer to MPs’ questions about the cases of cheating. He said there was “some merit” to a suggestion by MP Hany Soh that in the spirit of giving those who were caught cheating a second chance, they might serve the community by volunteering for legal aid cases. https://cna.asia/3Fs7zsu
