As Singapore pushes ahead with its 5G network rollout, a new centre has been launched to not only scale up 5G across sectors, but also break through on research into 6G to enhance emerging technologies. The Singapore University of Technology and Design’s Future Communications and Connectivity Lab is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia to combine research and development in both 6G and artificial intelligence. The lab is part of the $70-million Future Communications Research and Development Programme, which has awarded grants to 20 projects so far.
