Netherlands investigating two illegal Chinese “police stations”

The Netherlands is investigating reports that China has set up two illegal police stations — allegedly used to harass Chinese dissidents. The posts in Amsterdam and Rotterdam claim to offer diplomatic assistance, but had not been declared to the Dutch government. Human rights group Safeguard Defenders claims China has opened over 50 “110 Overseas Police Service Centres” around the world. 110 is the emergency police number in China. It said the centres are used to blackmail suspects into returning to China to face criminal charges — in breach of global extradition laws.
