Natural disasters killed more than 1,000 people in ASEAN in 2021

Natural disasters killed more than 1,000 people in ASEAN last year, while 16,000 were injured. The number of these events last year – at about 1,400 – was three times higher than in 2020. Singapore’s Communications and Information Minister Josephine Teo told a disaster management dialogue that the region is one of most affected globally by climate change. She urged policymakers to do more.
