National Wages Council to meet in Sep to develop guidelines amid economic uncertainty

The National Wages Council is set to meet next month (September) against a backdrop of fast rising costs and an uncertain global economic outlook. It develops salary guidelines that are in line with Singapore’s economic growth. The NWC typically meets once a year. But in 2020 and 2021, it met twice to help Singapore deal with the COVID-19 crisis. The council is now urging companies to continue to transform their business and workforce. This way, rising productivity can support wage growth.
