Malaysia heads to the polls on Nov 19 amid worries over monsoon season

Malaysia’s king has called for a peaceful campaign period ahead of the 15th general election. UMNO, the largest political party, is seeking to consolidate its comeback after former leader Najib Razak was jailed for corruption. The snap poll will be held on Nov 19. Nomination of candidates will be on Nov 5, giving them two weeks for campaigning. Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has insisted the 14-day campaign period will be sufficient for political parties to rally support. Some 21 million Malaysians are eligible to vote this year.
