China has accused Japan of exaggerating a perceived threat from Beijing as an excuse to boost its own military might. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had warned that the invasion of Ukraine could be replicated in East Asia. He said peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait must be maintained.
