Former judge to head Australian inquiry into ex-PM Scott Morrison’s secret ministerial appointments

Australia has appointed a former high court judge to investigate ex-prime minister Scott Morrison’s secret ministerial appointments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Bench veteran Virginia Bell will lead the probe and submit her report by end-November. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the investigation will examine how Mr Morrison took on those portfolios, and the implications they’ve had on the public’s confidence in government. Some of Mr Albanese’s opponents have said this probe is a political witch hunt.
