Emmy Awards: Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae makes history as first Asian to win best drama actor

The curtain has closed on this year’s glitzy Emmy Awards — back to its full glory after two years of pandemic-muted shows. Among the highlights: Historic wins for Netflix’s mega-hit, Squid Game. South Korean actor Lee Jung-jae became the first Asian to win the best actor award for a drama Series and the first-ever to win it for a non-English speaking role. Squid Game series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk won best director in a drama series, making him the first Korean to snag the award.
