Hong Kong’s chief executive election will be held this Sunday (May 8). The city’s sole candidate, Mr John Lee, has attempted to craft a more personable image during his election rally, instead of delving too much into policy goals. This is the Hong Kong’s first election under Beijing’s reformed electoral system to ensure only patriots govern the city. Assistant Professor Liu Dongshu from the department of public policy at City University Hong Kong shared more about Mr Lee’s political background and the major policy challenges he faces.
