Cooling data centres: ST Engineering’s cooling system achieves more than 20% in energy savings

There is now a greener and possibly cheaper way to cool energy-intensive data centres. ST Engineering’s new cooling system could cut energy use by more than 20 per cent over conventional chillers. It is able to do this by sharing the load with conventional chillers. A 20-megawatt data centre, for example, could shave S$4 million off its electricity bill a year. Operators that use the system could recover their initial investment in about three years.
