The Committee Against Profiteering said, in the last three months, it has received about 100 complaints against companies for raising prices unjustly. Of these, only five were specifically linked to the upcoming GST hike. The committee was convened to investigate unjustified price increases of essential goods and services that use GST increases as a cover. Giving the update, the committee chair Low Yen Ling noted that 70% of all complaints were against F&B establishments.
