Bank of England raises interest rates to 2.25%

The Bank of England has raised interest rates again as it seeks to tackle soaring inflation. It lifted its base rate by half a percentage point to 2.25 per cent, a 14-year high. This marks its seventh rate increase in a row. It is one of the major central banks to hike rates after the US Federal Reserve raised rates by 75 basis points.
