Australia’s east coast is bracing for more heavy rain and flooding. Queensland and New South Wales continue to bear the brunt of the extreme weather, with the death toll rising to 16. Both states have recorded more than a year’s worth of rain over the past week. Hundreds of thousands have been forced to evacuate as fast-moving floods take over entire towns. But the worst may be yet to come. Emergency services have warned that thunderstorms and isolated heavy showers will continue through the weekend.
