The Jaguars haven't received official word from the NFL regarding the possible suspension of defensive tackle Marcus Stroud, who last week learned that he might have violated the league's steroids and related substances policy.
Without official notification from the NFL, Stroud will be available to play Sunday when the Jaguars visit the New Orleans Saints.
"I don't want to say anything until I hear something from the league," Stroud said Friday, before he politely declined to comment further.
Stroud and the Jaguars await results from the "B" sample of his test. A league source said the Jaguars expected to receive results by Friday or early next week at the latest.
"There is nothing to report today," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said.
If the Jaguars receive a positive result on Stroud's "B" sample, he'll be suspended for four games. Under the NFL's collective bargaining agreement, Stroud has the right to appeal.
Stroud, listed as probable on the Jaguars' injury report with a thigh injury, fully participated in Friday's workout and is expected to start Sunday.
Superdome memories
Jaguars running back Fred Taylor hasn't been to the Louisiana Superdome since 1997, when he and teammate Mike Peterson helped Florida beat Florida State 52-20 for the 1996 national title.
The Superdome could be the site of another significant milestone for Taylor, who needs 67 yards to become the 21st player in NFL history to gain 10,000 rushing yards in his career.
"The national championship was one thing, but this week, [the game is big] just because it's an NFL game and the nature of our business is that you can be beat any week," Taylor said. "We can't fall too far behind the Colts, so it's definitely a must-win for us. This game is meaningful for me in that sense. I do understand all of the hype behind what I can achieve. But I've never put that in front of the main objective, which is to win."
Offensive tackle Khalif Barnes said he was "pumped" about helping Taylor reach his milestone. Maurice Williams, who has started at tackle for 86 games of Taylor's NFL career, was more reflective.
"I'm excited for him," Williams said. "To see all the hard work he's put in for 10 years, it's definitely an achievement for him and this o-line. We definitely feel proud for him and his family. All of the fellows want to get him there, and they'll do whatever it takes."
Etc.
QB Quinn Gray admitted he was a little nervous last week in his first career start at Tampa Bay, but he expects to be more comfortable in start No. 2. Expect the Jaguars to open up the offensive attack a little more on Sunday. ... S Sammy Knight has 40 career interceptions. He estimates he has dropped approximately 10 others throughout his 10-year career. "I remember one year I dropped four," said Knight, who played for the Saints from 1997 to 2002. ... CB Aaron Glenn might start in his second consecutive game because of a hamstring injury to Brian Williams, who was limited in practice for the third consecutive day. Williams is listed as questionable on the injury report, along with LB Daryl Smith (back) and TE Greg Estandia (foot).
