letter-spacing:-0.1em;"></p></div> <p>Britney Spears' comeback single 'Gimme More' has debuted at the top of the US digital download chart.</p><p>The troubled singer, who lost the <a href="/showbiz/a76824/spears-told-to-hand-children-to-k-fed.html">custody</a> of her two sons to her ex-husband Kevin Federline earlier this week, notched up 179,000 downloads of the single in one week.</p><p>'Gimme More' is the first song from her highly-anticipated new album. It has also reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart - the highest rank for Spears since debut single 'Baby One More Time' was released in 1999.</p><p>Spears performed the new single for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards last month but she was heavily <a href="/showbiz/a75362/spears-mtv-comeback-was-embarrassment.html">criticised</a> for the show after poorly
