Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta is one of 15 hospitals, and the only one in Georgia, selected to perform joint replacement surgery for retired NFL players.
The Pill Hill hospital was selected by The National Football League and NFL Players Association's newly-created NFL Player Joint Replacement Benefit Plan to help eligible, retired players who need joint replacement surgery.
The NFL benefit plan will provide financial assistance to players to cover the cost of the procedures. For players not covered by insurance and those who cannot pay for the procedure, additional financial assistance will be available from the newly-created NFL Player Care Foundation.
Players eligible for assistance from the NFL Player Care Foundation will not be responsible for the cost of either the joint replacement surgery or post-operative rehabilitation.
Saint Joseph's bills itself as among the country's top 50 hospitals and is recognized as best in Georgia for joint and spine care.
